It all started with another celebration.
Feb 27, 1998: A small community hospital in Vienna celebrates its victory over the forces of evil1 with an MLC Workshop. We were excited to discuss current technology and own experiences with other Physicists and Radiation Oncologists of Austrian Radiotherapy departments.
Three year earlier, in 1995, the named forces had tried to equip this new-founded department with linear accelerators made by a company which is no longer active in the field of radiotherapy. Against all odds, we had succeeded by convincing those responsible that another company named "Varian" - unknown in Austria at that time - would be the better choice.
Staff has changed, Clinacs have changed (into TrueBeams), the hospital has changed its name, even the health care provider the hospital is part of has changed its name. This webite is still the same!
P.S.: Looks like 2023 is going to be the year of ...
1They wanted to equip us with Philips linear accelerators. No joke.
