Introduction
(1) - History
For the 3D treatment planning we use
the Cadplan Planning System from Varian/Dosetek. On the following pages I want
to present our intermediate results after using this system in clinical routine
for about a year and a half.
Some historical facts:
- We started to experiment
with the system in the summer of 1996, during the installation phase of
the Clinacs (two 2300 C/D).
- Summer/Fall 1996: Measurement
of treatment unit data on both Clinacs (PTW waterphantom). Comparison of
the data, decision to use only one data set for both machines, since deviations
were very low (beam matching had been done in the factory).
- Fall 1996: Configuration
of the treatment units (one for 6 MV, one for 15 MV photons). Testing and
Commissioning. EDW properties were checked with a PTW LA48 Linear Array
(47 chambers, 8 mm spacing). Good agreement between measurements and test
plans.
- Dec 20, 1996: Planning
and treatment of the first patient.
