The Irregular Surface Compensator (ISC) - Offline Review

Offline Review is the new Aria application for Reviewing the port images acquired during delivery, replacing the "Review" Task in Vision software. As the name says, the reviewing is done off-line, that means when the actual session is over. Reference images (here: from Simulation) and port images can be matched, giving values for actual field setup deviation. As consequence, couch corrections for the next day can be defined in the form of "Change Requests". The Change Requests are read and signed-off on the linac by the technologists before the next session is started.

All port images shown are aS500 images.

Fig.1: The first patient was treated with the ISC method on Apr.03, 2006 (here: medial breast field). The integrated port image is in the lower right corner (can be recognised by the characteristic stripe pattern of MLC interleaf transmission). Both simulation image and port image are filtered. Plan by Jochen.

Fig.2: The lateral breast field.

The images of Figs. 1 and 2 are matched. In the left part of the screen (the blending area), a slider at the bottom shows the actual display intensity of the images: currently, it is at the left edge wchich means that only the simulation image can be seen. Moving the slider around can help during matching. The crosshairs of Simulation (green) and Port image (red) are always unblended.

This is Session 23 of the same patient:

Matching is not trivial, even if it is done manually. Here is an easy case, where the thorax can be clearly recognized on both images after some filtering and optimal window/levelling:

Two more (non-ISC) matchloops can be found here.
